Allow us to show you what we do best:
Tax Returns

We prepare Federal and all States tax returns for individuals as well as Sole Proprietors, Corporations, Limited Liability Companies, Partnerships, Fiduciary, Estate and Gift Tax Returns, and Estate income tax returns. At TaxMasters, we’ve been doing all types of returns for over 30+ years. Don’t worry about how long it has been since your returns should have been filed. To date, our record is filing returns for a Physician who had not filed for twenty years.

Bookkeeping

Some call it "Accounting"; some call it "Bookkeeping". We usually call it "Bookkeeping" to keep out of trouble. CPAs prefer to keep non-CPAs from using the term "accounting" and lobbied the State legislature years ago to make it official. Bookkeeping is what we do to collect the information from a business, polish it up, and then produce financial statements that can be used for tax returns, bankers, lenders, etc. We can also clean up your books, train you on how to use QuickBooks, and make your books ready for your tax preparer. You do what you can or want to and we do the rest.

Tax Planning

Tax planning runs the gamut from answering your tax questions to helping you figure out how to correctly pay the least amount of tax on your income. It is nice to plan taxes in advance and be in the driver’s seat. For small businesses, it is also a way to determine what type of business structure you should have from a tax point of view. Such questions as the following are important:

  • Should we incorporate?
  • Should we reform as a Limited Liability Company?
  • Should we sell or exchange our rental property?
  • Should we file bankruptcy?
  • What happens if we abandon our company?
  • What happens if we add our kids to the deed to the house?
  • I’m separated from my spouse. How do we file our taxes?
  • ...
  • There’s a million more things to think about.
Retirement Planning

Retirement planning involves pension planning and types of pension plans. It is better for some individuals to use a Roth IRA, traditional IRA, a 401(k) or Roth 401(k), Simple IRA, Simple Pension Plan, Defined Benefit or Defined Contribution type of plan. What is best for the owner of the company?

When someone is approaching retirement, what is the best method of withdrawing funds from which type of account? How do you maximize withdrawals while minimizing taxes? How does Social Security enter into the planning? Which funds do you use first pr ;ast?

Taxpayer Audit Representation

When you get the letter from the IRS stating that you are being audited, what do you do? Do you try to handle your own audit or get professional representation? What type of representative do you need - an Enrolled Agent, a CPA, or a Tax Attorney? Should you use an H&R Block representative or a brother-in-law or the guy over the back fence?

The audit process usually pits the knowledge and experience of an auditor against the knowledge and experience of the taxpayer or the taxpayer’s representative. The one with the most knowledge and experience usually wins the day. If you’re audited for a particular item and a particular year and you can’t properly defend a deduction or can’t explain why the income the auditor knows you received is left off the tax return, you may be looking for trouble on other filed years. The auditor will chase down an item in other years and even other items in all years - just because you may not have presented your deduction(s) properly. You need someone to establish boundaries for the audit and protect your rights.

TaxMasters has been representing taxpayers in audits for over 30 years. Don’t get caught short.

Taxpayer Collection Representation: (aka Tax Problem Resolution)

Only Enrolled Agents, CPAs and Tax Attorneys can represent taxpayers when they owe monies to the IRS and can’t pay. Claims against taxpayers are often bogus….and are often the result of the IRS filing a tax return for you which you did not file. The IRS can make your life miserable by enforcing their claims, levying your paychecks, bank accounts, even your Social Security payments rendering you unable to put food on the table, pay the rent, make the car payment or that college payment for your kid.

Only a very small percentage of Enrolled Agents, CPAs and Tax Attorneys practice in the area of Collection Representation/Tax Problem Resolution. Firms that advertise on TV (no, we’re not that TaxMasters!) do so to get leads on taxpayers who are in trouble. Once you’ve responded to the "sell" of letting them represent you, a few thousand dollars may be expected before work begins.

We represent people all across the U.S. and foreign countries. However, in some cases, it may be best to be represented locally. This may be a formal meeting with your representative to be sure they are representing you in a timely way and honoring the terms of your contract with them. A phone consultation with us may be provided to help you decide if you need local representation or if it matters that we may be thousands of miles away from you. We have had a lot of experience in this matter. Don’t believe the claims that it takes a lawyer to properly represent you due to client/attorney privilege. However, if you are a tax evader, you do need to hire a lawyer. Otherwise, hire a reputable and qualified representative to assist you.
